Availability and price
Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 Plus at its Galaxy Unpacked event held on 17 January in California, alongside the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Design
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus features a new design, with flatter edges and smaller bezels. It’s the same as that found on the slightly smaller Galaxy S24.
As well as this updated, sharper look, like the S24 it comes with ‘Armour Aluminium’, which Samsung claims will toughen the device up against dents and scratches.
Its IP68 rating means it can handle dust and dirt, while it can also be immersed in 1.5 metres of water for as long as 30 minutes without lasting damage.
Camera
The triple-lens camera system on the Galaxy S24 Plus is identical to that on the Galaxy S24 and, on paper at least, is the same as its S23 Plus predecessor.
That means a 50MP main lens, backed up with a 12MP wide angle and 10MP telephoto lens, with optical zoom reaching up to 3x. The front-facing selfie camera clocks in at 12MP, the same as the 2023 edition.
Where things change, however, is the inclusion of clever new AI functionality.
That means you can take AI enhanced HDR photos which you can post on Instagram (usually such hi-res images can’t be posted to the social network), with other new features offering the ability to edit backgrounds, delete unwanted objects and take bright snaps even in the dark thanks to AI smarts.
Video shooting is available 8K, with 4K and 1080p options also included.
Specs
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus features the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 3 processor, although in the UK this has been replaced by the still impressive, Samsung-made Exynos 2400.
The good news is that everyday users won’t notice any difference and the device will still operate at lightning speed.
Samsung has also included AI feature that allow users to translate voice calls and text chats in 13 different languages in real time.
There’s also an impressive new ‘Circle to Search’ feature, built by Google and debuting on the Galaxy S24 Plus. This lets you circle on screen items to search them via Google, all using AI.
Google’s Android 14 and Samsung’s own One UI on top come as standard.
