Samsung’s latest plus-sized smartphone is one of its best yet. But how much does it cost? And what new features does it offer? Let’s take a look…
Release date
Our first proper glimpse of the S20 Plus came at Samsung’s Unpacked event in San Francisco, on February 11.
In-line with previous Galaxy releases, S20 Plus will be available to pre-order from February 12th and you’ll be able to buy it some time in mid-March.
Alongside the S20 Pro, is two other Galaxy S additions: the standard S20, and a larger, premium edition: Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Cameras

The S20 Plus houses four cameras on its back that are undoubtedly the handset’s main selling points.
Here’s some of the rear camera’s main features:
- 12-megapixel main wide camera
- 64-megapixel telephoto and 12-megapixel ultra-wide time-of-flight cameras
- Up to three times optical zoom
- Up to 30x digital zoom
- Up to 8k video recording
Elsewhere, the front camera is 10-megapixels and support 4K video recording at 60 frames-per-second.
Design
So far so good, then. But how does it look?
Well, this time round, Samsung has ditched it’s trademark edge-to-edge display for a more traditional, flat design.
Given this, we expect some backlash from hardcore Samsung fans. But we think the S series’ design has been in need of a rethink for quite some time, and love the end result.
Screen
The handset’s panel measures 6.7 inches. Which means plenty of screen real estate to enjoy movies and TV shows.
And to complement all that extra space, the phone boasts a wide quad high definition, dynamic AMOLED panel with 3,200 x 1,440 pixel resolution.
Processor
Unsurprisingly, the S20 Plus’s innards are just as impressive as its glossy appearance.
Indeed, Samsung has opted for a Qualcomm chipset – the Snapdragon 865 – to power it’s cutting-edge tech.
Notable improvements the processor has to offer include enhanced LPDDR5 smartphone memory, meaning the phone will be 30% faster and 30% more efficient than its predecessor.
Lastly, Samsung will also incorporate the Qualcomm SD Sonic Max fingerprint sensor to bulk-up the phone’s security credentials. This means a large scanner beneath the phone’s surface that uses sound waves to recognise your fingerprint, and the ability to support two fingerprints at a time.
Battery life
As it’s Samsung’s plus-sized model with a power-hungry large screen, the S20 also features a whopping 4,500 battery.
Price
Here's how much each new phone costs:
