Buying a new smartphone can be expensive work. And if you’re someone who simply must own the newest cameras and processor, you could end up spending as much as £50 per month on a contract.

Apple iPhone SE 2020

An updated version of Apple’s popular smartphone, the SE 2020 edition combines high-end features with a compact design.
One of the stand-outs, though, is the inclusion of Apple’s excellent A13 Bionic chipset. In a nutshell, this powerful processor means the phone will deliver seamless performance, plus the kind of specs you might see on a pricier handset.
And despite the single 12-megapixel camera, features like 5x digital zoom, portrait mode with advanced bokeh and depth control, plus 4K video recording mean you’ll still get your money’s worth.
With a smooth glass front and back, the iPhone SE 2020 is almost identical to the iPhone 8 – which isn’t a bad thing. It boasts a 4.7-inch retina display, Dolby Vison with HDR 10 and comes in black, white and (PRODUCT) RED colourways. In short, the iPhone SE 2020 edition is an excellent mid-range smartphone worth your money.

To look at, the Galaxy S20 is every inch the flagship handset; it’s got a smooth aluminium metal chasis with extra thin bezels. And with a mammoth 4,000mAh battery which should be plenty big enough to last a full day, its practical, too.
Other notable features include a finger print scanner under the screen, plus some col and adventurous two-tone colour options, including: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink.
iPhone 11 Pro
If a superior phone camera is important to you, then the iPhone 11 Pro is well worth a look. It’s got three 12-megapixel cameras; one wide, ultra-wide and a telephoto lens with 2 x optical zoom. These let you capture up to four times the scene and performs brilliantly in low-light, plus the handset also boasts excellent video-recording and crystal-clear XDR display.
To look at, the iPhone 11 Pro is almost identical to the iPhone XS Max, measures 5.8-inches and is available in four colours, including Midnight green, space grey, silver and gold. And unlike the standard 11 version, the Pro also comes in a swanky matte finish.
Google Pixel 4
Not bothered about owning the staple Apple or Samsung handset? The Google Pixel has a lot to offer.
Indeed, at 5.7-inches, its compact for a premium handset and boasts an excellent dual- camera setup, which includes a 12.2-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel tele-lens. Moreover, new portrait mode will mean you’ll get to take crystal clear photos, and zoom in on objects from far away without any trouble.
Other notable features include enhanced 90Hz display, face unlock, plus a motion sensor so you can do things like skip songs without unlocking the phone.
It’s also got a unique and practical design, too. Indeed, the aluminium frame black rubber coating makes the phone feel pretty sturdy and provides extra grip, especially when compared to today’s flagship handsets with glass backs.
