Samsung Galaxy S23 release date
Samsung likes to announce its latest Galaxy S range at its Unpacked launch event at the start of every year, with pre-orders following shortly after.
Whether that’ll be in January or February for the Samsung Galaxy S23 is yet to be confirmed.
Samsung Galaxy S23 price
There aren’t any solid figures for prices just yet. Still, we doubt the S23 range will deviate too much in price from the previous S22 and S21 generations.
At launch, the base Galaxy S22 went on sale with a starting price from £769, the S22 Plus from £949 and the S22 Ultra from £1,149. Based on the S22 range, you can expect similar launch prices for the S23 models, although worldwide inflation may mean we see a bigger jump than usual.
Samsung Galaxy S23 specs
Previously, Samsung handsets in Europe were given Samsung’s own Exynos chip, which generally performed worse than its Snapdragon counterparts.
This time around, however, all Samsung Galaxy S23 phones will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, regardless of region – which is great news for UK customers.
Plus, leaked benchmarks suggest that the new Snapdragon chipset matches the performance of the iPhone 14’s powerful A15 Bionic chip.
Samsung Galaxy S23 design
It looks like the Galaxy S23 line will stick to the familiar blueprint of the S22’s design. Screen sizes are likely to be the same as their S22 counterparts – though each model is reported to measure slightly larger and thicker than its predecessor.
Still, based on online renders of early leaks, it seems the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will get rid of the contoured camera module on the back. Instead, they’ll follow the camera design of the S23 Ultra, with each individual camera lens embedded in the body of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S23 battery
Given that one weakness of the S22 was its disappointing battery life, it’s a relief to hear that the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will both receive a boost in battery capacity.
A bump of 200mAh will bring the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus to 3,900mAh and 4,700mAh, respectively. However, the S23 Ultra will stick with a 5,000mAh cell.
Nevertheless, a new chipset and power efficiency measures (such as a “Light” power mode) should help prolong the battery life of all Samsung Galaxy S23 models.
Samsung Galaxy S23 camera
There are a few potential camera upgrades to look out for.
Most significantly, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is tipped to get a 200MP main camera. Not only would this be a huge upgrade from the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s main 108MP sensor, but it’ll also be the biggest step-up in a Samsung smartphone camera in five years.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are set to get an upgraded front camera with 12MP resolution. This will be the first time Samsung’s selfie camera has had a megapixel bump since the Galaxy S10 in 2019, so it’s a welcome improvement.
