But if you don’t fancy being attached to one provider for that long, 30 day SIM only deals are also available from most major networks.

Huawei P20 Lite at a glance

Flaunting the same appealing looks and design as the Huawei flagship range, the Huawei P20 Lite has much to recommend it - even if there’s no escaping this is a mid-range handset. It's available with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage for your apps, files and pics (and a micro SD card). It also comes in blue, pink and black variants.

Don’t expect an all-singing and dancing premium model; Huawei have made some understandable compromises in order to keep costs as low as possible. Its two rear-facing cameras will take some decent snaps but aren’t up to the standard of the P20; and the 5.8-inch screen and LCD panel means no vibrant OLED display.

But battery life and charging functionality are perfectly adequate, and it actually has quite a nippy processor, which should handle even your most demanding apps. And… it even comes with a lesser-spotted headphone jack.

A premium-looking handset at a reassuring price.

Cheap Huawei P20 Lite deals

Whichever fancy new smartphone you’re eyeing up, there are different ways to pay for a mobile contract - particularly if you don’t want to pay an upfront fee.

Different suppliers split their costs in different ways, so look at how you can balance your needs. Some require a large sum upfront and then a lower monthly fee, while others flip this and include a higher monthly fee, but you’ll pay less upfront.

To get a contract deal at the lowest possible cost, you can...

  • Choose an MVNO or budget network, such as giffgaff or Sky Mobile. These networks have lower operating costs, and therefore cost you less too.
  • Go for a lower allowance or lower internal storage size - but make sure you still have enough to cover you for the next two years.
  • Get a refurbished model which has been previously owned or returned.
  • Buy through a reseller - like Carphone Warehouse or Buymobiles, which offer pay-monthly contracts at cheaper rates.

Huawei P20 Lite deal with no upfront cost

If you want to avoid an upfront charge on your new mobile contract, it’s easy to compare mobile networks which offer this option.

Deals which mention a “free device” mean the cost of the handset is spread over the course of the contract and you don’t get hit with a large upfront expense. However, this does mean you will pay a higher fee each month. The plus is you get a shiny new phone in your hand without first forking our hundreds of pounds.

You can compare network deals and vary the amount you’re comfortable paying upfront against the amount you pay each month.

Refurbished Huawei P20 Lite deals

You could also trade in your current smartphone and put the money towards one of the newer models. It's a quick and easy process with CompareMyMobile.com. Depending on what model you have, and how intact it is, you’ll be surprised at what you can get.
