Each year, Apple’s latest flagship handsets boast cutting-edge tech, significant camera upgrades and modern design. And the Californian tech giant’s latest offering, the iPhone 12, is no different.

Design

The iPhone 12 features a significant makeover that, so some, has been long overdue. It's got a smaller notch, and an overall design that borrows heavily from the iPhone 5, including smoother edges, rounded corners and a flatter screen.
It’s extra sturdy, too, boasting super-tough screen casing known as Ceramic Shield. Apple says it’s tougher than any other smartphone glass, and can withstand damage from drops with four times greater resistance than previous iPhone models.
Impressively, the phone itself is also 11% thinner and 15% smaller than the iPhone 11 but still provides a generous 6.1-inch, OLED display, that will feel comfy in the hand and not too obtrusive in the pocket.
Lastly, the iPhone features the fastest chip to appear in smartphone, the A14 Bionic. As you might expect, such a powerful new chipset lends significant performance and efficiency upgrades, delivering up to 50% faster graphics than any other smartphone, for a console-like gaming experience.
Camera
The iPhone 12 features a dual 12-megapixel camera system that consists of Ultra Wide and Wide cameras.
Stand-out features include Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control, Portrait Lighting with six effects: Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High Key Mono and a five-element lens on the Ultra Wide camera that will make for professional looking pictures.
Battery

This time around, Apple’s latest iPhone houses an impressive 2775mAh that offers fast wireless charging.
Interestingly, you can also charge the iPhone 12 with wired-fast charging, though you’ll need to buy the 20W charger separately.
5G
Yes, the iPhone 12 is the first Apple feature to feature support for super-fast 5G speeds.

The iPhone 12 costs £699, though contract deals will be available to make paying a little easier.
Release date
Due to Coronavirus, the iPhone 12 was unveiled on October 13, and you can pre-order it from October 16.
