The iPhone 12 is rumoured to be Apple’s latest flagship smartphone. Here we’ll look at what new features are being touted, plus how much it’s likely to cost.
Each year, Apple’s flagship handsets are packed with the latest stand-out tech, powerful processors and elegant design.
And over the last few months, the rumour-mill has been brimming with talk of the Californian tech giant’s latest flagship offering, the iPhone 12 – at least, that’s what we’re calling it.
Here’s a round-up of the major rumours we’ve seen, so far.

The iPhone 12 is rumoured to feature a significant makeover that, so some, has been overdue since the introduction of the iPhone X back in 2017.
So far we’ve heard talk of a smaller notch, and an overall design that borrows heavily from the iPhone 5. This could mean smoother edges, rounded corners and a flatter screen than we’ve seen on an iPhone in recent years.
We’re also confident that the iPhone 12 will be one of four variants, made up of the following sizes:
|iPhone 12 Max||6.1-inches|
|iPhone 12 Pro||6.1-inches|
|iPhone 12 Pro Max||6.7-inches|
Unlike the more expensive Pro series, the standard iPhone 12 is rumoured not to come with a triple-lens setup.
Instead, we expect to see two cameras – although we’re not sure about megapixels right now – and, potentially, a time-of-slight sensor on the back.
Yes - we expect each new iPhone 12 handset to feature 5G capabilities.
When it comes to battery life, reports are conflicting. Some leaks suggest the iPhone 12 battery range will be as follows:
|iPhone 12 Max||2775mAh|
|iPhone 12 Pro||2775mAh|
|iPhone 12 Pro Max||3687mAh|
If these rumours are true, only one of the new phones – the 12 Pro Max – would come with a bigger battery than the standard iPhone 11.
In recent years, each new iPhone base model has been cheaper than the last. To that end, we expect the iPhone 12 to retail somewhere between £600 and £650, and the premium models to exceed £900.
Can’t wait for the iPhone 12?
Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, it’s likely that the iPhone 12 release date will be pushed back from its usual mid-September slot to some time later in the year – perhaps October, or even November.
