Our rating for O2 Recycle

It's best known for its top-notch mobile network, but O2 also has a recycling arm, which lets you trade in your old phone. You don't need to be an O2 customer to use it, and it doesn't mean you have to get an O2 mobile deal either - anyone can sell their phone to O2 Recycle.

It buys a really broad range of mobiles including some quite old models. Quotes aren't super competitive for major flagship smartphones, but for slightly older and mid-range phones it has some rather good offers.

It'll buy broken handsets too, though it offers significantly less cash for them than it does for fully working ones.

Quotes on broken phones work on a sliding scale for O2 Recycle, so the amount you can get depends on exactly what condition your phone is in. Nailing this upfront also means more accurate quotes which are less likely to be revised later.

Free postage is available when you sell to O2, along with free returns if you're not satisfied. You can get paid by bank transfer, cheque, or even credit straight to your bill if you're an O2 mobile customer. If you're on an O2 Refresh contract you can have that credit pay directly for your airtime cost, in fact.
