Announced at 2015’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 was the first in the family to ditch the plastic look for metal and glass. With many other upgrades including improved cameras, incredible screen resolution and wireless charging capabilities – you should definitely be able to tell this handset apart from its predecessors. Take a look at the specs below.
Features and spec
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 launched in March 2015, ready for an April release, with a smart aluminium body featuring Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back. It emerged in a range of colours including white pearl, gold platinum, blue topaz and slack sapphire.
The display is the same size as the screen on the Galaxy S5, but the S6 is a vast improvement with a display resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels – this makes for 577ppi on the S6 compared to 430ppi on the S5.
You’ll also notice an improvement to the camera. Both the S5 and S6 feature a 16MP rear-facing camera, but you’ll notice a 5MP front-facing snapper on the latter – as well as an upgrade within the camera app itself. It also featured a fingerprint sensor (PayPal certified) and Samsung Pay.
Power-wise you won’t have been disappointed with the Galaxy S6 either – despite having no SD card slot for additional storage, a new flash drive in the device makes for faster speeds. On top of this, you’ll still find a 2.1GHz Octacore processor and 3GB RAM. It came in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage sizes too, so you could match you budget to the storage you need.
The battery is also a big sign of which device you’re holding. Previous Galaxy models had featured a removable back, and removable battery – however the Galaxy S6 has a non-removable 2550 mAh battery, which supports wireless charging. Wireless charging was a big deal when it came to this new Samsung device, so if you were the first of your friends to have it then you’re probably holding the S6.
