Released in September 2014, the Galaxy Alpha was yet another way the manufacturer provided competition for Apple’s iPhone 6. Coined as the premium-feel version of Samsung’s Galaxy S5, it came packing some decent specs at a good size – just in case you didn’t fancy the Galaxy Note 4 or Apple’s new phablet.
How can you tell it apart from the Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy S5 before you trade it in? We are here to help – check out the features below before you decide on the best place to get cash for your old phone.
Features and specs
Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha came measuring in at 5.21 x 2.58 x 0.26 inches and many called it the manufacturer’s most beautiful phone ever thanks to its smart, metal feel. It’s smaller than the Galaxy Note 4, but those metal edges might remind you of it. Instead of a leather back it sports the dimpled one you’ll find on the Galaxy S5, but the S5 doesn’t have the metal. So, you see, there are definitely ways to tell the devices apart.
The Galaxy Alpha comes in black, silver, white, gold and scuba blue – with a 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 pixel Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. It also features a 12MP camera on the back, with autofocus and LED flash, which isn’t quite as good at the one on the Note 4 or Galaxy S5. It also has a 2.1MP shooter on the front.
Packed inside you’ll find a Li-Ion 1860 battery as well as a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor and you’ll probably remember that it ran the latest version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat when you first got it too.
